Kim Melchior was born and raised in Denmark and have had a life-long passion for genealogy/history. He did genealogical research in Denmark, before moving to Utah in 1981. He volunteered in the Scandinavian Reference Area of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City until a position as Reference Assistant became available. He transferred from the Reference Unit into the Collection Development Unit where his job was to help develop the Scandinavian Collection at the Family History Library. He now does research on a full-time basis as well as present workshops on Danish, Swedish and Norwegian research and records.
Kim has been accredited in Danish and Swedish research since the early 1980's and has extensive research experience in Norwegian and Finnish research. He has conducted workshops on Scandinavian research. He has written articles and compiled books of genealogical nature. Kim has access to all records in Salt Lake City for Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland as well as the many records that now are available on the Internet.He also have a number of genealogical databases produced commercially in his personal collection. Kim and has many research contacts in Denmark, Sweden and Norway who have access to some of the records that are not currently available neither through the Family History Library in Salt Lake City nor on the Internet. Kim does research both for individuals and for larger family organizations. Searches and projects will always be tailored to your specifications. He does short one-time projects or larger ongoing research projects depending on your needs. No project is too small or too large.
Kim is member of these organizations: APG (Association of Professional Genealogists), DIS-Danmark, DIS-Sverige, the Swedish genealogical society: "Kronobergs Genealogiska Forening", the Danish family and local historical society: "Bornholms Slægts- og Lokalhistoriske Forening" and Minnesota Genealogical Society.
