Kelly R. Summers, AG®, AGL™

Kelly Summers, is an Accredited Genealogist®. She received her Associates’ degree in Professional Genealogy and her Bachelor’s degree in Family and Community History both from Brigham Young University. Kelly received her Master’s degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Instructional Design and Educational Technology from the University of Utah. Kelly has four premier genealogical credentials through the International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogist (ICAPGen) demonstrating genealogical research expertise is in U.S. Midwestern & U.S. Pacific, Mexico and Spain. Kelly is also an experienced researcher in Latin American, Southwestern European, Scandinavian countries &  China. Kelly’s research interests lie in kinship research in primary source records and rural community reconstruction.

Kelly has works as a part-time faculty member at Brigham Young University, designing and teaching university level Family History courses for more than 15 years. She also teaches online genealogy courses at Salt Lake Community College. Kelly has taught on a variety of genealogical topics at many local, regional and national conferences. She teaches genealogy webinars virtually for libraries and societies nationally.

Kelly served as the Utah Genealogical Association (UGA) President (2017-2021). She served for more than 10 years as the Testing Committee Chair (2006-2016) for the International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogists (ICAPGen). Kelly was the SLIG 2020 Course Coordinator for Chinese Genealogy: Research Methods & Sources. Kelly taught this Chinese Genealogy course virtually in the Fall of 2021.
