Mckenna is accredited in Scotland Research. She earned a BA in Anthropology with minors in French and Family History/Genealogy from Brigham Young University, and is currently finishing an MSc at the University of Strathclyde in Genealogical, Paleographic and Heraldic Studies. She is a member of the International Society for British Genealogy and Family History, The Scottish Genealogy Society, and the Czechoslovak Genealogical Society International. Mckenna works as a British Isles Research Specialist at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.
