Lisa Stokes, AG®
I have been researching family history for 20 years. My paternal roots come from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia and I love the research challenges the southern states pose. I am accredited for research isnthe U.S. Mid-South, which includes the states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Missouri. The forensic cases I work on give me experience and proficiency in other areas of U.S. research and across the borders into Mexico and Canada.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Education from Brigham Young University and love to research, teach genealogy classes, lecture, and coach others in overcoming research challenges. I recently developed a citation course to help aspiring genealogists working on their accreditation. I am a member of the National Genealogical Society, the Virginia Genealogical Society, and the Utah Genealogical Society. I also lead the ICAPGen℠ study group to help genealogists earning their accreditation.
In the past, I have worked on repatriation cases for the DPAA (Defense POW-MIA Accounting Agency) as a research fellow at Brigham Young University. I currently participate with Firebird Forensics solving criminal cases for law enforcement.
